By August 2019 Scotty Mac reached over half a million streams on Spotify. An incredible feat by an indie emcee. Now he plans on doubling that number this year with the release of a plethora of new music including two new singles, and two collaborations.
Scotty Mac’s new music follows the release of his 2017 album, ‘Devoted.’ With enough tracks to fill a baker’s dozen, ‘Devoted,’ came through with slick beats, rhymes that flowed with ease, and a great deal of finesse. Tracks like “Be Devoted Be Free,” “Lyrical Murder,” and “No Sleep” hold this record high and showcased just what Scotty Mac is all about. They’re also an indication of what’s to come from the New York rapper.
Along with his releases, Scotty Mac has also been very collaborative in the hip hop realm. He dropped an EP with Long Island’s Tha Kid Jae in 2019. ‘Destination Everywhere’ came out the same year as his solo EP, ‘The Be About It,” which featured a pair of singles that reached well over 100,000 streams on Spotify; “What I’m On” and “Insomniac.”
33-years-old this year, Scotty Mac has been creating music since he was 15 and recording it for the past seven. In that time he’s played SXSW and even opened for the likes of Justina Valentine of MTV’s ‘Wild N’ Out,’ Rah Digga, Black Rob, Mr. Cheeks, and KRS-One. With his new releases, Scotty Mac is adding more stages to his list, and always looking to play. Born deaf in one ear, Scotty Mac has had to face uphill battles his peers have not.
