Junk & IM'PERETIV Enlist Daniel Son for "Hantavirus," the Third Single From Together in Pieces V


VANCOUVER, BC – TORONTO, ON – CALGARY, AB | AUGUST 2026 — Vancouver rapper Junk and award-winning Canadian producer IM'PERETIV continue the rollout of their new collaborative project Together in Pieces V with "Hantavirus," the third single from the five-track release, featuring Toronto-born, Calgary-based rapper Daniel Son.


Built around the repeated question "Where my go-getters at?", "Hantavirus" is a street-minded record about ambition, money, loyalty and the paranoia that comes with operating in environments where trust can be difficult to come by.


Junk's verses use the language and imagery of hustling to explore a world where everything is calculated — from money and communication to who you trust and what information you leave behind. References to encrypted messaging, tracking, informants and keeping business off the internet create a running theme of surveillance and paranoia, while the recurring "Hantavirus" refrain turns the idea of rats into a metaphor for snitches and betrayal.


At the same time, the record draws a deliberate parallel between the street hustle and the music business. Near the end of his verse, Junk flips the perspective with the line "I just sell music, it's just a rap assignment", before suggesting that the music industry can contain many of the same traps, politics and complications as the world being described throughout the song.


The result is a record that plays with the conventions of street rap while also acknowledging the reality behind them. The emphasis isn't simply on the lifestyle, but on the mentality required to navigate it: move smart, protect your information, know who you can trust and keep working toward the money.


Daniel Son's appearance adds another layer to the collaboration, bringing together two established voices from Canada's underground hip-hop community. Originally from Toronto and now based in Calgary, Daniel Son joins Junk over IM'PERETIV's production for a record that connects different corners of Canada's independent rap scene.


Produced by IM'PERETIV, "Hantavirus" continues the sound established across the first two Together in Pieces V singles, "Still Wealthy" and "Out West," while pushing further into the project's darker and more street-oriented territory.


"Hantavirus" is the third release from Together in Pieces V, continuing the project's staggered single rollout ahead of the 555 Ontario Tour taking place this September.


The five-track project features production entirely by IM'PERETIV, with executive production from Junk, IM'PERETIV and Jamie Kuse. The project was engineered, mixed and mastered by Jamie Kuse at Nova Studios.
